<p>A few weeks ago when <strong>Gary Vaynerchuk</strong> <a href="http://twitter.com/garyvee" target="_blank">@garyvee</a> of Wine Library TV, announced that he was coming to Seattle on October 20th as part of this book tour for his first book, <em><strong>Crush It!</strong></em> I was really jazzed. Then when he asked me to rally the peeps in the Seattle area about him coming to town for Crush It&#8230;how could I refuse? <img src='http://socialnetworkinglifestyle.com/blog/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif' alt=':D' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<h2>Gary Vaynerchuk coming to Seattle!</h2>
<p>Gary was one of the first people I connected with on <a href="http://twitter.com/timothycarter" class="alinks_links" onclick="return alinks_click(this);" title="" style="padding-right: 13px; background: url(http://socialnetworkinglifestyle.com/blog/wp-content/plugins/alinks/images/external.png) center right no-repeat;" rel="external">Twitter</a> when I joined in early 2008. Why? Because Gary is PASSIONATE about what he does. You see it in his videos, you see it in his wine reviews, even his tweets on Twitter when he&#8217;s heartbroken after another New York Jets loss. He wears his heart on his sleeve. He has built an INCREDIBLE personal brand through that passion. Gary has been such a FORCE of passion in social media that he&#8217;s been all over TV. From CNN, to Ellen and Conan O&#8217;Brien, to the Today Show and many appearances across the country speaking about his passion and social media. His passion impacts people&#8217;s lives:
<p>
<span id="more-76"></span></p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;Anyone looking to supercharge their career should beg, borrow, and steal to learn Gary Vee&#8217;s techniques. He reinvented the rules to build a $60-million business from scratch-on his own terms.&#8221; (Tim Ferriss, #1 NY Times bestselling author of The 4-Hour Workweek )</p>
<p>&#8220;Gary is a force of nature. His authentic, raw passion and caring touches everyone. His insights into social media &amp; his message of opportunity could not be more timely.&#8221; (Tony Robbins)</p></blockquote>
<p>Which is why it&#8217;s appropriate that Gary Vaynerchuk came out with his first book, <strong><a class="zem_slink" title="Crush It!: Why NOW Is the Time to Cash In on Your Passion" rel="amazon" href="http://www.amazon.com/Crush-Time-Cash-Your-Passion/dp/0061914177%3FSubscriptionId%3D0G81C5DAZ03ZR9WH9X82%26tag%3Dzemanta-20%26linkCode%3Dxm2%26camp%3D2025%26creative%3D165953%26creativeASIN%3D0061914177">Crush It!: Why NOW Is The Time To Cash In On Your Passion</a></strong>.</p>
<p>Here&#8217;s a video Gary made about why he wrote the <strong><em>Crush It!</em></strong> book:<br />
<object id="viddler" classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" width="437" height="333" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always" /><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" /><param name="src" value="http://www.viddler.com/player/d3311a3a/" /><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true" /><embed id="viddler" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="437" height="333" src="http://www.viddler.com/player/d3311a3a/" allowfullscreen="true" allowscriptaccess="always"></embed></object><br />
Do you have a hobby you wish you could indulge in all day? An obsession that keeps you up at night? Now is the perfect time to take that passion and make a living doing what you love. In <strong><em>Crush It! Why NOW Is the Time to Cash In on Your Passion</em></strong>, Gary Vaynerchuk shows how to use the power of the Internet to turn your real interests into real businesses. Gary spent years building his family business from a local wine shop into a national industry leader. Then one day he turned on a video camera, and by using the secrets revealed in the book, transformed his entire life and earning potential by building his personal brand. By the end of the book, you will have learned how to harness the power of the Internet to make your entrepreneurial dreams come true. Step by step, <strong><em>Crush It!</em></strong> is the ultimate driver&#8217;s manual for modern business.</p>
<p>Gary Vaynerchuk also made a video blog post about the <a href="http://crushitbook.com/crush-it-book-tour-street-team/" target="_blank">Crush It Book Tour Street Team</a> that he was talking about the book tour. Gary mentioned me and Seattle while looking for other peeps to spread the word when he comes to their town. Here&#8217;s the video in case you missed it:<br />
<object id="viddler" classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" width="437" height="370" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always" /><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" /><param name="src" value="http://www.viddler.com/player/4d95be7/" /><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true" /><embed id="viddler" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="437" height="370" src="http://www.viddler.com/player/4d95be7/" allowfullscreen="true" allowscriptaccess="always"></embed></object></p>
<p>So I&#8217;d really love to see a BIG turn out from the <strong>Seattle Social Media Club community</strong> since Gary Vaynerchuk really is the definition of social media branding. As well, I&#8217;d love to see Seattle people who love wine and/or entrepreneurs who are looking for the path to cash in on their passion!</p>

<p><em>Source <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twitter" target="_blank">Wikipedia</a></em></p>
<h3>On my Facebook account, I&#8217;ve been asked repeatedly, &#8220;What is Twitter&#8221; and &#8220;why do you use it&#8221;? So I thought Wikipedia could define it better than I could. <img src='http://socialnetworkinglifestyle.com/blog/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif' alt=';-)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p>Twitter has grown INCREDIBLY FAST over the last year that I have been on Twitter. Home based businesses, small brick/mortar businesses and Internet Marketing industries have been seeing the powerful impact that Twitter has on their business.</h3>
<h3><strong>Soooooo&#8230;How Do I Use Twitter?</strong></h3>
<h3>Everyone who uses Twitter each have a different reason to use Twitter. I really use Twitter as a lifestream to my social media networking. From what I read, to what I write on my blog about, to what I learn and use to build revenue online which keeps me working at home full time.</h3>
<h3>My Twitter profile is: <a href="http://twitter.com/TimothyCarter" target="_blank">http://twitter.com/TimothyCarter</a></p>
<p>Here is what I do- Essentially I &#8216;follow&#8217; people I share common ground with intellectually, hobbies, passions with, people I find interesting and would like to keep up to date with what&#8217;s they are up to. Then I find ways to get to know them&#8230;whether from watching their tweet stream to checking out the web link on their profile.</h3>
<h3>Oftentimes I update my &#8216;Twitter Status&#8217; either by going to <a class="zem_slink" href="http://twitter.com" rel="homepage" title="Twitter">Twitter.com</a>, logging into my account and type in &#8216;What are you doing?&#8217;, if I&#8217;m not home, then by using my cell phone or by using another service like <a class="zem_slink" href="http://www.tweetdeck.com" rel="homepage" title="TweetDeck">Tweetdeck</a> or <a href="http://www.tweetlater.com/85525-0-1-4.html" target="_blank">TweetLater</a> on my laptop. So whether I&#8217;ve got my laptop or my cell phone, you often find me tweeting.</h3>
<h3>Each time I update my status, <strong>all my &#8216;followers&#8217; get a notification on their Twitter page</strong>. They can reply directly to me, read the update, visit a link which I<br />
include in my update and even just ignore it. <img src='http://socialnetworkinglifestyle.com/blog/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' />  Who would possibly do that? <img src='http://socialnetworkinglifestyle.com/blog/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> </h3>
<h3>My Twitter account is set up to<u><span style="text-decoration: underline;"></span></u> connect with my <a href="http://profile.to/timothycarter" target="_blank">Facebook</a>, <a class="zem_slink" href="http://myspace.com" rel="homepage" title="MySpace">Myspace</a>, <a class="zem_slink" href="http://plaxo.com" rel="homepage" title="Plaxo">Plaxo</a>, <a class="zem_slink" href="http://tumblr.com" rel="homepage" title="Tumblr">Tumblr</a>, and my Blog. When I update my Twitter status or my Blog with a new blog post, everyone who&#8217;s connected to me through the above <a class="zem_slink" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_network" rel="wikipedia" title="Social network">social networks</a> can see exactly what I&#8217;m doing.</h3>
<h3>So by using Twitter<em> I can connect all my friends from all my social networks together</em>. Each &#8216;tweet&#8217; I write on Twitter will have the ability to be seen by <strong>between 4000-18,000+ people</strong>! And continues to grow.</h3>
<h3>Twitter and <a href="http://socialnetworkinglifestyle.com/master-social-networking.php"  class="alinks_links" onclick="return alinks_click(this);" title="learn to social network"  style="padding-right: 13px; background: url(http://socialnetworkinglifestyle.com/blog/wp-content/plugins/alinks/images/external.png) center right no-repeat;" rel="external">social networking</a> is about building relationships and visibility with others&#8230;at least that is what I use Twitter for.</h3>
<h3><img height="214" src="http://www.mlm10weekchallenge.com/images/what-is-twitter.jpg" style="border: 0pt none; margin: 4px; float: right;" width="280" /></h3>
<h3>There are several blog posts from <a href="http://twitter.com/copyblogger" target="_blank">Brian Clark</a> (who I HIGHLY respect) of <a href="http://copyblogger.com" target="_blank">Copyblogger.com</a> that I recommend you read so that you can start putting this tool to work for you and your business.</h3>

<h3><a href="http://www.copyblogger.com/go-viral-on-twitter/" onclick="javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('/outbound/article/www.copyblogger.com');" target="_blank">5 Steps to Going Viral on Twitter</a></h3>
<h3>
What do you use Twitter for? <img src='http://socialnetworkinglifestyle.com/blog/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> How does Twitter help your business if you use it for business?</h3>

<h1><a href="http://www.facebook.com/note_redirect.php?note_id=64598304432&amp;h=faf575c028db248376c01bf0e9fb3d65&amp;url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nbc13.com%2Fvtm%2Fnews%2Flocal%2Farticle%2Fpeople_turn_to_network_marketing_in_soft_economy%2F59952%2F" title="http://www.nbc13.com/vtm/news/local/article/people_turn_to_network_marketing_in_soft_economy/59952/" target="_blank">People turn to “network marketing” in soft economy</a></h1>
<p>The local TV news report shared the VALUE of what this type of business can do for people who are looking for a 2nd income in these economically frustrating times with hundreds of thousands of layoffs around the<br />
country and people getting more desperate about their financial situations.</p>
<p>A couple that come to mind for me are:</p>
<ul>
<li>Bring in extra money through <a class="zem_slink" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Direct_selling" rel="wikipedia" title="Direct selling">direct sales</a> that can cover car payment, bills, food, mortgage payment</li>
<li>The demand for network marketing/home based business will continue to increase</li>
<li>Home business <a class="zem_slink" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tax_deduction" rel="wikipedia" title="Tax deduction">tax deductions</a> (home office, cell phone use, computer/internet, etc)</li>
</ul>
<p>And there are so many more benefits of starting a home based business…but I’ll save that for another day.</p>
<p>Check the news report video out. Let me know what you think!</p>
