Gary Vaynerchuk Is Coming to Seattle to Crush It!

A few weeks ago when Gary Vaynerchuk @garyvee of Wine Library TV, announced that he was coming to Seattle on October 20th as part of this book tour for his first book, Crush It! I was really jazzed. Then when he asked me to rally the peeps in the Seattle area about him coming to town for Crush It…how could I refuse? :D

Gary Vaynerchuk coming to Seattle!

Gary was one of the first people I connected with on Twitter when I joined in early 2008. Why? Because Gary is PASSIONATE about what he does. You see it in his videos, you see it in his wine reviews, even his tweets on Twitter when he’s heartbroken after another New York Jets loss. He wears his heart on his sleeve. He has built an INCREDIBLE personal brand through that passion. Gary has been such a FORCE of passion in social media that he’s been all over TV. From CNN, to Ellen and Conan O’Brien, to the Today Show and many appearances across the country speaking about his passion and social media. His passion impacts people’s lives:

How To Be A Social Media Networking Entrepreneur

In today’s economy, there really is no better time to become an entrepreneur and utilizing social media networking to build a business online. With the growth of social media and networking online, it’s fairly safe to say that people WANT to use social media marketing to make a living online and from home. BUT…the majority of people fail miserably at it!

As I was doing research for another blog post I’m working on, I stumbled upon this great image about “How To Be A Social Entrepreneur” that really captures the foundational principles of getting social for business.

What do you think about what is written above? Does what it say resonate with you? Did it make you think about what you are currently doing or what you are planning to do in the social media networking arena for your business venture?

There are so many great points listed there that are essential for doing business today, but I’m glad to see #1 on that list is “Find Something You Love To Do…And Would Do For No Pay”! It’s all about PASSION! If you don’t have a passion for the particular business you are in or are thinking of being in…then it is the WRONG business!

In its essence social media networking isn’t about getting traffic to your blog or business opportunity, it’s ALL about building relationships! Meeting the right people to be “On Your Bus” as it were, who have the same vision and passion as you!

What are you doing out there? Are you just posting tweets on Twitter hoping people will click on your opportunity link or are you connecting with people and interacting with the community? What social networks are you involved in? What blogs do you read that are in your business niche? Where are you at? Interact with people, leave comments, be helpful by providing tips or links.

Overall for me personally, I spend far more time reading & commenting on other people’s blogs and tweets (even retweets) than I do writing my own blog posts or tweets on Twitter. Over time, this will get people naturally interested in what you have to say instead of ALWAYS being one-sided in your social media approach of sell, sell, sell, which is a turn-off to the majority of people.

Social media is a give in order to receive world. You’ve got to share your knowledge and information freely. Create an eBook with valuable tips and give it away on your blog or site (have you picked up the free one above?). Go out of your way to connect people and show you’re willing to give something before you get something. Establish YOU…not your business or product.

In closing, here are a couple of posts that I think will help you see a little more clearly about how to be a social media networking entrepreneur:

Wow, another week has passed. Where did the first half of 2009 go? I’ve spent a lot of my 2009 working out in our organic veggie gardens and diving into the new fitness social network of Team Beachbody. Super cool. But when I’m not blogging, on the phone about business, or even sleeping…I’m reading…A LOT! If you could see my Google Reader RSS feeds. LOL ;)

Okay, so here are my faves from the past week of social media marketing blog posts I read that I hope you’ll find of value too!
